The EMSCB security platform project is initiated by a consortium of german academia and industry. The goal is to develop a fair -- in the sense of trusted computing -- and secure operating system, which is compatible to existing operating systems, but at the same time cuts off the usual threats, such as viruses, worms or Trojan horses.
Virtualization is used to provide isolation between processes. Thus an application can run in a safe mode parallel to the operation of the normal system. The security platform is based on an L4 microkernel, and the Turaya architecture uses Linux as primary operating system.
